Radical Futures: Nexus opens in the Goldfields

Radical Futures: Nexus has opened at Artgold Gallery in Boulder, bringing together a dynamic cross‑section of Goldfields artists whose work speaks to connection, courage and community-driven futures.

The exhibition runs from 14th December 2025 to 1st February 2026 at Artgold Gallery, and is open on Mondays and Fridays.

Curated by Claire Weir, the exhibition is presented as part of the Regional Arts Triennial 3 with support from Artgold Inc., the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, the Goldfields‑Esperance Development Commission, and AngloGold Ashanti Australia.⁠

Why Nexus, Why Now?

Nexus is the fifth exhibition to launch in the current WA Regional Arts Triennial, Radical Futures, a statewide program inviting artists and communities to imagine the worlds they want to live in. In the Goldfields, that conversation is grounded in place: red earth, woodlands, greenstone, and the lived experiences that bind people to Country and to each other.

Curator and photographer Claire Weir, based in Kalgoorlie‑Boulder, frames the exhibition around connection and belonging. Originally from Ireland, Claire has spent a decade in the Goldfields working across exhibitions, oral histories and community archives. With Nexus, she’s foregrounding voices often left out of the wider historical record and inviting audiences to listen deeply and share honestly.

Expect a mix of photography, textiles, painting and assemblage that threads personal stories into the big questions of the region: movement, mining, making home and imagining a fairer future. Participating artists are;

Part of a Statewide Conversation

Nexus sits within the Regional Triennial’s Radical Futures, a program of 15 regional exhibitions featuring more than 120 artists across Western Australia, culminating in a major group exhibition at John Curtin Gallery in late 2026. Recent and upcoming Triennial exhibitions include Unearthed in Esperance, Gathering Ground in Margaret River, Fertile Ground in Albany, and We Walk Together in Kununurra and Broome.

Artgold Inc. is part of Regional Arts WA’s Regional Arts Network, a 20 strong group of regional arts and cultural organisations fostering a strong, connected, and capable regional arts sector that services regional, rural and remote communities across Western Australia.
