As we move out of Makuru and into Djilba (August-September), the Noongar season of growth, wildflowers are starting to burst into colour. It feels fitting, because we’ve been busy working away on our strategic plan for CITS funding, planting the seeds for the flowers to come. July has had us all running between meetings, and I mean that quite literally. I was found jogging down Adelaide Terrace with barely enough time to catch my breath before the next one started! Advocacy on one side, grants closing on the other, including three of ours alone this month, so if you’ve been meaning to apply, now is the time.

In amongst all that, there’s a lot worth your attention this edition: Elfreda Ward and Roelene West’s 16-hour drive from Warburton to see her own work hanging at Revealed, our Investment Coordinator Carla Steele taking the stage for WA Music Week, and a free webinar on the new Associations Incorporation Act if your organisation’s still getting its head around what’s changed. We’re also thrilled the ABC now has a dedicated arts reporter in Mietta Adams, whose first interview was with Pilbara artist Jenna Pickering, a recipient of our Next Level Fellowship.
