Natalie de Rozario

Josephine Johnson was raised on a dairy farm in Harvey, Western Australia. After completing a Commerce degree at the University of Western Australia, she enjoyed a varied corporate career spanning three decades, holding senior roles both in Australia and overseas. Her most recent position was as the Director of Global Marketing for Rio Tinto’s Diamonds division, where she managed the Argyle Pink Diamonds business in Perth and oversaw marketing operations in Singapore, Mumbai, New York, and Hong Kong.

Early in her career, Josephine served on the Board of the Community Arts Network and worked as a marketing consultant for various arts organizations and local government entities prior to her tenure at Rio Tinto. Following the closure of the Argyle mine, she seized the opportunity to return to the arts and is currently in her final year of studying for a Bachelor of Creative Arts at Curtin University. The arts have always been an integral part of her life, influencing her creative approach to business challenges, her work as a painter, and her advocacy efforts. She believes that with proper support, resourcing, and advocacy, the arts can lead to transformative benefits for both individuals and communities.

Josephine hopes to leverage her understanding of the challenges facing artists and regional communities, alongside her knowledge of the economics, systems, and structures that must be navigated to build sustainable futures, in a role on the Board of Regional Arts WA. She recently achieved certification from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has no conflicts of interest to declare.
