Jennifer Halton is the Director International (Associate Dean) at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She has a diverse background in research and business strategy, bridging the worlds of academia and industry for over 15 years. With expertise in governance, Jennifer completed the AICD Company Directors Course in 2022 and holds appointments as a Non-Executive Director at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Research and Innovation (CERI) in Perth. She also serves as an advisor and mentor for creative startups in Western Australia.

Before joining WAAPA, Jennifer held leadership roles in both Perth and London, including Chief Impact Officer at CERI and Head of Growth and Partnerships at Scale Space, an Imperial College London joint venture.

Jennifer has travelled extensively throughout Western Australia, witnessing firsthand the positive impact of the arts on regional communities. Since 2022, she has volunteered pro-bono communications coaching to Arts Impact WA and continues to support regional artists in securing much-needed funding.

She holds a PhD in Cultural Musicology, specialising in cultural politics and artistic innovation in Renaissance Italy. In 2015-2016, Jennifer led a team of researchers and artists in practice-led research as the Founder of The Metamorphosis Project, which won the Irish Research Council New Foundations Award. This year, she relaunched Metamorphosis in Perth as an online platform and community. Her current research explores the economic impact of the creative and cultural sectors in Australia, aiming to build a framework for measuring productivity and innovation within and between Australia’s network of Creative and Cultural Industries (CCIs).
