As our newly appointed First Nations Officer, Janine will support First Nations artists and organisations living in the regions to engage with arts and cultural programs, advocate for the value and importance of First Nations culture and raise awareness of cultural protocols.
 
Janine Oxenham is a Malgana Yamatji woman from Midwest WA. She grew up on Yinggarda Country in Carnarvon and now lives and works on Wadandi Country in Busselton. Janine has a backgroud in service provision, mental health, community capacity building and parent & family education. She has spent her artistic career as a movement maker and has choreographed and performed as an Independent contemporary Indigenous dancer for numerous festivals and projects in Regional & Metro WA.
 
She has been fortunate to work with some amazing organisations and Independants in the industry including Yirra Yaakin, Perth Festival, STRUT, PICA, Josh Pether Projects, Annette Carmichael Projects, Boomerang and Spear, Tura New Music and Creality. Janine has a love of working with community to tell Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Stories through movement, physical theatre & performance art. Recently, she has enjoyed working in theatrical and experimental movement and is an avid producer currently supporting various projects in regional WA.
