Geraldton Open Studios and Surrounds (GOSS) is back for its third year, throwing open the doors of studios and galleries across the Mid West for nine days of free, self-paced discovery. From 26th September to 4th October, 30 sites across Geraldton, Dongara, Greenough, Mullewa and Northampton will welcome visitors in for a rare look at how local artists live and work.

Geraldton Open Studios and Surrounds founder Emmaline James said the experience has come a long way since it first launched in 2023.

“After a short break, it feels especially good to be opening the doors again. The time away has given us the opportunity to build on what people already love about GOSS,” Ms James said. “Visitors can expect to discover everything from household names to exciting collaborative projects, all opening their doors to the public.

Each studio sets its own opening hours, viewable on the GOSS website and app, making it easy to map out an itinerary across the nine days.

A full program beyond the studio doors

Alongside the free studio experience, GOSS 2026 features a full program of events and workshops throughout the week:

  • An Art Gala Evening will officially launch GOSS 2026, bringing together art, live music and light projections with participating artists and the wider creative community.
  • The Emerging Artist Market, on Sunday 27th September, will showcase the work of up-and-coming artists from across the region.
  • Three Behind the Studio Doors bus tours will offer a more intimate look inside local studios, giving visitors the chance to meet artists in their creative spaces and learn more about their work and processes.
  • A brand-new Artist Slide Night will bring artists and audiences together for presentations and conversation about creative practice.
  • A variety of artist-hosted workshops will give visitors the chance to get hands-on and learn directly from local creatives.

Hardcopy catalogues can also be picked up from several locations including Geraldton Regional Art Gallery, Tarts & Co, Platform Markets, Colour Decor (Brightside), Karl Monaghan Photography, Geraldton Universities Centre, Geraldton Regional Health Campus, Quiet Life, Salt Dish, Two Foreshore and Geraldton Visitor Centre, with more hospitality and accommodation providers to follow.
