Strategy and Research

Regional Arts WA is working to strengthen the future creative workforce across regional Western Australia by creating pathways between education, training and employment. 

Through partnerships with universities, industry and regional arts organisations, we support students and graduates to gain practical experience, build professional networks and explore creative careers in regional communities.  

What we’re working towards

What we’re learning 

Alongside our workforce programs, we are undertaking research to better understand the needs of the sector and identify sustainable solutions for attracting, developing and retaining creative talent in regional WA. 

The research is strengthening our work by providing evidence to guide new initiatives, partnerships and investment. Insights from the project are helping shape graduate pathways, work-integrated learning opportunities and long-term strategies to support a sustainable regional creative workforce.

Programs 

Outback Prac 
For Students 

Outback Prac connects tertiary students with regional arts organisations through Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements. 

Participants gain hands-on experience, build industry connections and develop practical skills while experiencing life and work in regional Western Australia.

Cultivating Futures 
For Graduates 

Cultivating Futures is exploring new approaches to support graduates into meaningful employment within regional Western Australia’s arts and cultural sector. 

Through research, partnerships and collaboration, the program aims to strengthen long-term career pathways and support a sustainable regional creative workforce.
