The year has kicked off with incredible momentum with our team coming together for a planning day to map out what promises to be an exciting year ahead for Regional Arts WA.
Multiple funding opportunities are now open for all regional artists, including our Next Gen Arts Grant and Next Level Fellowships aimed at young people, and our Quick Response Grant for projects needing that final last minute boost.
The Regional Arts Triennial 3 exhibitions are also lighting up communities around the state, united under the gloriously ambitious theme, Radical Futures. We’ve supported the wonderful Sarah Roots (RAT3 curator) to attend the latest of these events, and she’s been on the ground capturing the art, the conversations, and the artists’ stories, so watch this space!
The State government recently announced a Creative Industries Taskforce to work towards an industry action plan. We’ll be watching with interest to see how regional WA fits into the picture, and keeping you posted as things unfold. In the meantime, a tip of the hat to industry colleagues Mat Lewis and Jacky Cheng for making sure there are regional voices in the room.
Regional Arts WA featured artist of the month, Danny Christensen, is currently touring the South West with his band Bluebone, so if you’re local, catch his unique fusion of surf beats and funk.
Wishing our community of innovators and creators a wonderful year ahead!
