The Next Gen Arts grant program provides funding to support the employment of regional artists in delivering engaging arts activities for young people aged 12 to 18 living in regional areas.
It aims to increase access to quality youth arts activities, support employment of regional artists, grow arts connections between regions and add to the liveability of regional communities.
Information about this grant
Any regionally-based organisation or individual artist offering activities for young people aged 12-18.
Eligible organisations may include community resource centres, local governments, youth centres, and arts organisations.
Individual practicing artists and arts educators from any discipline are also encouraged to apply. Schools may submit applications for non-curricular activities that take place outside of regular school hours.
All applicants must live in Regional WA. You can find out which region you live in here.
Got a creative project for young people aged 12-18? Next Gen Arts support youth-focused activities like:
- Art workshops & masterclasses
- School holiday programs
- After-school creative sessions
- Community events & productions
Your project can explore any artistic medium, including:
- Dance & Theatre
- Music & Spoken Word
- Visual Art & Photography
- Film & Animation
- Street Art & New Media
- Costume Design & Textiles
All projects must be inclusive and open to young people aged 12-18.
Funding can cover the following project expenses:
- Artist and/or artsworker fees
- Artist and/or artsworker travel costs
- Materials
- Venue and/or equipment hire (for individual applicants only)
All other costs for the project must be covered by the applicant. This grant can be used to supplement other funding sources supporting the project, but it must be directed to the eligible budget items outlined above.
What the funds cannot be used for:
- Venue/equipment hire (if you are an organisation)
- Insurance

Next Gen Arts is part of the Regional Arts and Culture Investment Program, delivered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, with funding from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
The purpose of the program is to drive the creation of jobs, drive economic development and tourism and improve social cohesion by supporting the creative and cultural industries in regional Western Australia. Through strategic investments, the program aims to build capacity in the regions and contribute to liveability and vibrancy of regional communities.
