Thank you for standing with Vote Arts!
Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who took the time throughout the six week campaign to write a letter or talk personally to your local candidates in the State Election. In the end we delivered a huge 380 letters to prospective and sitting members – a fantastic outcome.
The Vote Arts campaign had a real and tangible impact
All major parties responded positively to the campaign and indicated a willingness to continue the Royalities for Regions Creative Regions package from 2019.
The Labor party and now the new government also released a Creative Policy which included a written undertaking to continue Royalties for Regions and increase it by $2 million enabling increased visual art exhibition touring to the regions.
We look forward to our first meeting with newly appointed regionally based Minister for the Arts, Mandurah MLA David Templeman, to confirm his commitment to regional arts.
The next steps for Vote Arts will now also begin. We will continue to advocate for increased funding available to regional arts in order to address the identified gaps from our Regional Arts Policy Framework released last year.
In addition, we will turn our focus to assisting the regional arts sector to help Local Government Authorities consider their arts and cultural planning processes in the run up to Local Government elections later this year.
Yours sincerely,
Paul Mac Phail, Executive Director, and the Country Arts WA team
