Regional Arts WA

The Next Level Regional program supports emerging artists ages 18-26 to develop their arts practice and build their professional capacities. Our 2022 recipients have reached some amazing milestones in the last month – we couldn’t help but share!


Joo Tan (Pilbara)

The Junction Co. and Courthouse Gallery+Studio opened the exhibition, Open Borders: The 26th Parallel and Beyond with the Creative Youth Day in November. Both celebrate young creatives in the Pilbara region. Joo Tan curated the exhibition, inviting young Pilbara artists to showcase their works and share their authentic stories. The exhibition runs until 8 January 2023 in Port Hedland. For details, visit The Junction Co. website.


Georgia Deguara (Kimberley)

Georgia Deguara, Director of YUCK Circus and Next Level Grant recipient is in the final stages of her project. Funding allowed her to upskill her arts administration expertise, and better showcase her work through the creation of a new website. Check it out here!


Emmett Aster (Peel)

Emmett Aster has been working on her new production, heartbeat., which opens in Mandurah this weekend. heartbeat. is a devised performance blending theatre, spoken word, music, and verbatim elements and is the debut performance from perhaps, a theatre company. The show tells the real stories of those attempting to create a career in the arts long after everybody else has grown up. Find out more and get tickets here.


Leah Vlatko (Mid West)

Leah has been conducting site visits and creating pieces for her upcoming exhibition. This is a photo from her recent visit to Drylands Permaculture Nursery where she was grateful for the chance to have a look around and spot some fungi. Leah has been loving the challenge of trying to recreate their delicate shapes in her studio. Follow her journey on Instagram here.
