Neil Turner’s Teaching and Mentoring Woodworking Workshop

Neil Turner’s Teaching and Mentoring Woodworking Workshop

Regional Arts WA

Master woodworker Neil Turner was invited by the remote Aboriginal community of Cosmo Newberry (Ýilka) to provide a series of workshops working with locally grown sandalwood and Indigenous timbers.

Specialised tools were purchased to provide safe and effective methods for all levels of experience to participate in the timber carving workshops. Participants were encouraged to use traditional carving and embellishments on their pieces if they chose and were given access to pyrography machines to decorate their carved spoons.
