Pink Thread Portraits
In the lead up to a performance of the Calender Girls, Ravensthorpe Regional Arts Council delivered a series of workshops providing community members with the opportunity to create portraits of themselves or those they knew, affected by cancer. Led by local artists, participants learnt the techniques of portraiture as well as exploring the history of portraits.
Community members who could not attend the workshops were able to collect canvases from the Ravensthorpe and Hopetoun Community Resource Centres. A total of 100 canvases were distributed with 89 canvases returned for exhibition and 61 sold by silent auction on the night with all proceeds going to the Leukaemia Foundation of Western Australia.
Ravensthorpe Regional Arts Council are supported by the Core Arts Fund Key category which provides operational support to assist the organisation in delivering an annual program of arts and cultural activities to the community.
