Ride 4 Ash – Skate Park Mural

Ride 4 Ash – Skate Park Mural

Regional Arts WA

After their friend tragically passed away, a group of young people wanted to honour his memory in one of his favourite spots.

Young people in Byford engaged local artist Dan Duggan to facilitate a workshop and create a mural as a memorial tribute for their friend Ashley Graham, at their local skatepark. This mural involved people from the local school, the wider community, the Shire, and friends and family of Ash.

“We have been able to create a beautiful, visual memorial for our friend Ash. It was amazing to see the amount of people who wanted to witness this artwork being created. We estimate the number of people at this event between 50-100. This mural is now a space where people can come and remember Ash at one of his favourite spots.”

Approximately 34 people stand on top of their newly painted mural on a skatepark ramp. The mural is a silhouette of someone on a scooter in front of the sun, riding in the sky amongst the clouds. Group shot of the project team, family, and friends in front of the mural. Photo by Brianna
