Drug Aware Beautiful Butterfly Women
In collaboration with Yamaji Girl, a program for young Aboriginal girls, a young project leader from Geraldton coordinated a series of textile workshops over eight weeks.
The girls worked with local artists to develop their artistic skills in dying silk scarves, lino cut prints and bleach reduction on fabric. Their designs were showcased in a community event at the local youth centre.
“Skills that I learnt while coordinating this project is how to facilitate and plan a workshop, give direction to a group of younger girls, provide feedback, mentor them, support them with anything they needed and the ability to talk in front of others.”
