2019 Drug Aware NAIDOC Youth Activities
Young people in Albany partnered with Albany Youth Support and Great Southern Aboriginal Health to deliver two NAIDOC Week events with a primary focus on providing educational art and craft activities for youth.
Over 160 young people participated across the facilitated cultural education and art workshop with Shandell Cummings, and other art and craft activities delivered through the week.
“It was great to be a part of these cultural events and meet others in the community, my favourite part of our workshops was teaching Indigenous youth the Mineng language and how to tell and read stories through Aboriginal art styles. Overall, I believe the activities and workshops were very successful in educating our community in several different aspects, from drug awareness to Aboriginal history and more.”
