Drug Aware Bruce Rock Youth Fest 2014
To celebrate National Youth week 2014 young people from the Wheatbelt town of Bruce Rock developed a week long program of artistic skills development and activities. Young coordinators engaged professional visual artist Sarah Kilgariff to teach skills in painting with acrylics as well as intertwining feelings into art.
The workshops covered a variety of techniques and skills including exploring colour symbolism, using different paint brush shapes, using acrylic paints and how to create the effects you want in your painting.
In addition the week long program included workshops and discussions for young people to began an ongoing youth group as well as a motivational presentation from a previous local young athlete. On the final day a community celebration and sausage sizzle was held with various career and information stands available. The art works created in the workshops were displayed as part of the community celebration.
