Blackwood River Art Trail Group Exhibition
In June and July 2022, A Glimpse of Blackwood River Valley Art exhibition at the Collie Art Gallery featured a a selection of participating artists from the 2022 Blackwood River Arts Trail. This exhibition engaged 15 artists across the Blackwood River Valley region, encompassed by the Nannup, Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Donnybrook-Balingup and Boyup Brook shires, giving them the opportunity to expand their audience and exhibit in a professional gallery.
“While our art trail is the major event we coordinate, we want to access additional opportunities for our artists, so when the possibility of holding an exhibition at Collie Art Galley arose we felt it was an excellent opportunity to provide greater exposure and reach as well as provide the experience of exhibiting in a professional regional gallery. It is also an opportunity to build on the increasing awareness of our main event which in turn, continues support our regional and remote artists.”

Project Name: Blackwood River Art Trail Group Exhibition
Funding Recipient: Blackwood River Art Trail
Amount Approved: $2,291
Funding Program: Regional Arts Fund Quick Response Grant
Region: South West
Immediate need: Most regional galleries have their programming organised 12 – 24 months in advance, however, due to a cancellation in their program, a space came up at Collie Art Gallery for June/July 2022. The applicant was advised of this cancellation at short notice, when in communication about another exhibition planned for 2023.
“It seemed an opportunity too good to pass up for our regional artists and it is unlikely that another possibility would arise at such a good time for our artists and to build our ‘BRAT’ brand.”
