Royalties for Regions Success | Arts & Cultural Development Council
Geraldton is a coastal city in the Mid West region of Western Australia.
GFEST is an annual ten day festival of arts and culture held in Geraldton and adds vibrancy to a traditionally under-utilised section of the foreshore. This event is only made possible through the Royalty for Regions Creative Regions program where the Art & Cultural Development Council received operational funding that provides significant in-kind support to GFEST.
“The vision for GFEST is an exciting and unique regional festival featuring cutting edge contemporary arts performances of a national standard, within an inclusive community event that showcases quality local produce and products, celebrates cultural diversity and promotes experienced and emerging local artists and performers.
The aim is to create an event which engages the local community in interactive arts events whilst attracting visitors from around WA and interstate. The Midwest is a growing, diverse, dynamic community bursting with artistic and cultural potential. We want to promote the Midwest as a culturally rich and diverse tourist destination year round.
We are continuing to develop the festival by involving more local businesses and artists, and creating new opportunities for local audiences to engage in interactive, immersive arts experiences.”
