Quick Response Grants open for WA regional artists seeking last minute funding

Quick Response Grants, part of the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, managed in Western Australia by Country Arts WA, are now open for applications from regional artists, arts workers and organisations.
Quick Response Grants support individuals and organisations to take advantage of arts and cultural opportunities that present themselves with short lead times and tight time frames.
Last year, Quick Response Grants supported more than 55 community groups and individuals across a diverse range of arts projects at home, interstate and overseas.
Mandurah musician Hannan Jones received Quick Response Grant funding to perform at the Tate Modern in London as a part of the Uniqlo Tate Lates performance series. The event brought 20,000 audience members through the gallery, was broadcast live on internet radio station NTS Radio and video of the performance garnered over 60,000 views.

Miss Jones said the performance has led to new opportunities in her music career.
“It provided us with a rich platform at a critical point in our career that will allow us to pursue further opportunities to write, record and perform music across many countries due to the event’s prestigious nature.”
Country Arts WA’s Executive Director Paul MacPhail says the Quick Response Grants are vital to supporting arts organisations and individual artists in regional WA.
“Arts opportunities often emerge at unexpected times in unexpected places, especially for those working in regional WA.
“Quick Response Grants allow artists and organisations to seize these sudden and sometimes career-making opportunities, offering them the platform to expose their work to a wider audience and develop skills they can bring back home to contribute to the continued sustainability of arts in regional WA.
It also affords regional communities the chance to engage with touring artists and other regional-based practitioners to share their skills with the wider regional arts community.”
Quick Response Grants offer up to $2,000 for individuals and $4,000 for community arts organisations. It is open all year-round or until funds are allocated.
