Art at the Heart – Residency Program Opening Soon

The Shire of East Pilbara is providing an exciting opportunity for an artist to advance their creative practice by exploring, experiencing and responding to the vast and unique East Pilbara.

To celebrate the region’s unique identity the Shire of East Pilbara is inviting an artist to spend six to ten weeks in the region, working on their creative practise and engaging with local communities. The residency includes accommodation, appropriate workspace, hire vehicle, a commission budget of  $40, 000 and an artist prize of $15,000.

In 2015, the successful artist will have the opportunity to respond to the East Pilbara’s aquatic environment. In a region that is rainless for most of the year, the East Pilbara’s waterways are the lifeblood of the land, holding great cultural significance to the local indigenous people.
