Drug Aware YCulture Regional Grants supports Youth Arts Projects across WA
Regional Arts WA is proud to support young people to deliver arts projects across regional communities in Western Australia through the Drug Aware YCulture Regional program.
Drug Aware YCulture Regional is a unique development program supporting young people, aged 12 to 26 years, to run their own youth arts and cultural projects in their regional community through an ongoing partnership with Healthway to promote the Drug Aware message.

The Drug Aware YCulture Regional program is open again! Regional Arts WA is currently looking to support arts projects for Youth Week, 8-16 April 2022, that can help spread the Drug Aware message to as many young regional people as possible.
Regional Arts WA is available to provide support to applicants through the entire process including applying, promoting the project, documenting the delivery, and acquitting the grants.

Drug Aware Fusion on the Green
$4,000 | Peel | Auspiced by Shire of Waroona
Young people in Waroona came together for the Drug Aware Fusion on the Green event where they enjoyed a variety of interactive activities and entertainment. Young people participated in numerous workshops including a drumming circle, an Aboriginal art project facilitated by Bindjareb Middars, and breakdancing sessions. Various community services took part in the event including GP Down South and Nidjalla Waangan Mia.
Nannup Youth Week Circus Workshop 2021

Young people in Nannup participated in circus workshops ran by NeuroCircus over 3 and a half days. Participants developed trapeze, juggling, hula hoops, aerials, slap stick and diabolo skills in both youth circus and performance. The workshops culminated in a performance for family, friends and the Nannup community, and were apart of Youth Week activities.
Pinjarra Senior High School Project Presented by Drug Aware
$4,000 | Peel | Auspiced by Rotary Club of Pinjarra
Young people in Pinjarra collaborated with artist Daniel Smith on a mural project where they incorporated their house system ‘‘Earth, Scarp, Forest, Towns and River’’ and the indigenous names for those into the artwork. Participants developed skills in how to use spray paint art equipment safely and techniques on how to make the artwork more realistic. The unveiling of the mural coincided with the Pinjarra Festival.
Inspiration Studio by Drug Aware

Several art workshops were held for young people, where they developed a variety of new skills including abstract photography, detailed editing of black and white photographs, acrylic pouring techniques and how to make sculptures out of scrap metal. The workshops culminated in an art exhibition of the work created during for family, friends and the wider community of Narembeen.
Avon Valley Drug Aware Dry-Art Workshop & Exhibition

Young people in Northam participated in a series of Dry-Art workshops with artist Lorraine Pichugin, where they developed techniques in composition and technical drawing skills, explored new mediums and colour mixing skills with pan pastels. The workshops culminated in an exhibition at the AVAS Arts Centre of the art works created by the participants.
Teenagers Drug Awareness Art Day

Young people in Cunderdin and surrounding Wheatbelt towns participated in an art day with artists Olivia Ryan and Jaclyn Peach. Participants developed skills in paint pouring, step by step canvas painting, different paint techniques and colour mixing. The artworks created were displayed at a community event.
Potluck at Nine: Presented by Drug Aware
$4,000 | Peel | Auspiced by All The Ways Theatre Company
Young people in Mandurah will participate in the remount and redevelopment of contemporary theatre show ‘Potluck at Nine’. Project Coordinators will be mentored by Yvette Wall to further develop their skills in directing and cast members will have the opportunity to develop skills in character building, layering intention, physical movement, projection, and working as an ensemble, A performance of Potluck at Nine will be showcased in Mandurah in mid-January 2022.
Mural on Jetty Road presented by Drug Aware

Young people in Bunbury were mentored by mural artist Andrew Frazer, where they participated in a series of workshops before transferring the skills they learnt onto the mural. Workshop participants developed skills in design, drawing, painting, and mural methodology. The community of Bunbury came together for the unveiling of the mural.
Skate Screen Workshop- presented by Drug Aware

Young people in Margaret River will participate in a series of screen-printing workshops led by Project Coordinator Rudy Selmes and artist Francesco Geronazzo, where they will engage young skaters to model the t-shirt designs created for a film project led by Jacque Ashworth. The project aims to activate community spaces and celebrate youth culture while providing a platform for young emerging artists. The screening of the film will take place at the Margaret River youth precinct.
Drug Aware Print Making for Exhibition
$4,000 | Mid West | Auspiced by Northampton Old School Community Initiative Inc
Young people will participate in a series of print making workshops with artists Rachel Salmon-Lomas and Lizzy Robinson where they will develop skills in lino printing and will draw on their connection to country for inspiration for their prints. The artwork created from the workshops will be displayed at the Geraldton Cultural Trust and at Ku’arlu Mangga (Good Nest) in Northampton and will be exhibited at the Fremantle Arts Centre in 2022.
Eco Fashion Textiles by Drug Aware
$4,000 | Mid West | Auspiced by Northampton Old School Community Initiative Inc
Young people will participate in a series of workshops with artist Rachel Veiritis, where participants will learn natural dyes techniques and create a length of fabric with their own design. Workshop participants will also develop skills in sewing where they will be able to make a piece of clothing or bag from their design, which will be exhibited at the Ku’arlu Mangga art gallery in Northampton.
