Regional Arts Resilience Grants [Open]

Grants of up to $15,000 to sustain creative practices in Regional WA.

Resilience Grants are designed to assist regional artists, arts organisations and communities to sustain creative practices and participate in the regional economy during the immediate period of disruption caused by COVID-19.

Project may include creative development, community engagement and capacity-building activities (such as professional development and business development) that abide with COVID-19 restrictions.

The Resilience Grants will operate as competitive funding rounds.

The first round of the Regional Arts Resilience Grants program will open 13 July and rounds will continue to December 2020 (or until the funds are exhausted). All Resilience projects must be complete by 30 June 2021.

Regional Eligibility

Applicants must reside in regional WA as determined by Regional Development Commission boundaries. The applicant’s physical address must be within a Local Government area identified as regional, to check your address visit

Grant Categories

Applicants can choose from two categories. The same eligibility will apply across all categories.

  • Community Engagement for projects involving regional artists that significantly engage the community in which they are based and/or the broader regional WA community.
  • Development for projects that provide skills, business and/or creative development opportunities for regional artists, arts groups or community organisations.

How to apply

All applications are to be submitted online using the SmartyGrants system. Applicants who require support to access the online application process should contact the Regional Arts WA Project Officer.

Draft Reviews

Applicants have the option to request one draft review before submitting your final application. Draft review requests will be accepted up until one week prior to the round closing date. You are strongly encouraged to make this request well before the review deadline to give staff enough time to provide feedback as well as time to update your application on receipt of this review.
To request feedback download a PDF of your application, by clicking on the ‘Download’ button at the bottom of the last page of the application form, and email the Regional Arts WA Project Officer, quoting your application number.

Assessment Process

All Regional Arts Resilience Grants are assessed by an independent, external panel of artists and cultural workers from across WA. You can see the full list of peer assessors here .

For Successful Applicants

Successful RAF recipients must display the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries, and Primary Industries and Regional Development, and Regional Arts WA logos on promotional material relating to the supported project. Logos and acknowledgements are available here. If you have any enquiries regarding logo usage please contact the Regional Arts WA Project Officer.

About Regional Arts and Culture Investment Program

Regional Arts Resilience Grants are provided through the Regional Arts and Culture Investment Program with support of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, with Royalties for Regions funding from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

The purpose of the program is creating jobs, economic development, tourism and improving social cohesion by supporting the creative and cultural industries in regional Western Australia. Through strategic investments, the program aims to build capacity in the regions and contribute to liveability and vibrancy of regional communities.
